York’s only five-star hotel launches new fine-dining restaurant – Legacy at The Grand, York
The Grand, York, the city’s finest hotel, is delighted to announce the upcoming opening of their new fine dining restaurant, Legacy.
At the helm of the new restaurant is Head Chef Ahmed Abdalla. He will play a pivotal role in continuing to elevate the hotel’s focus on modern British cuisine with a refined menu made up of a carefully curated collaboration of flavours and locally sourced ingredients.
“I am incredibly excited about crafting a truly unique fine-dining experience at Legacy by immersing different elements of the journey for guests.” said Ahmed Abdalla. “This must be a destination offering more than just great food – of course this will be paramount, but I want to really elevate the guest experience from start to finish. I look forward to enhancing The Grand’s renowned traditional offering by utilising a modern approach to British cuisine.” he adds.
Abdalla’s professional background includes York restaurant, Skosh, Yorebridge House in The Dales and stages at Restaurant Hywel Jones – Lucknam Park and Whatley Manor’s restaurant – The Dining Room.
Set to launch this summer, Legacy’s interiors have been constructed by industry-leading designers, Faber. With sustainability being of great importance for both the build and culinary operation, environmentally conscious choices have been made throughout.
The team at Legacy will invite guests to indulge in a new culinary offering with the opportunity to elevate it further with an overnight stay at The Grand itself. As well as a tasting menu, the restaurant offers an immersive wine pairing crafted by the in-house sommelier.
Guests will be welcomed in The White Rose Lounge to enjoy an arrival cocktail and canapés before being invited into the restaurant for a personal introduction from the chef, with an overview of the dishes.
The setting will be bold yet elegant, seating up to 26 covers, with interiors demonstrating the building’s iconic and historic features with modern twists, including blueprint murals, oak panelling, sculptural lighting, industrial ironwork and crisp colour contrasts.
“We are delighted to be advancing the hotel’s culinary offering in such a unique way. Undoubtedly, this will enhance our guests’ experience, particularly so for those who are enthused by fine dining and the best of British cuisine. Adding to this, it will elevate our wonderful city’s growing food scene, and this is something we cannot wait to be part of!”- Simon Mahon, General Manager
